How to find your niche
I struggled with this question for a long time, and that’s because I was looking for other topics that could make me the most money and grow me the biggest audience.
But that was the wrong way to think about it.
You don't need to pick a niche based on what's trending or what you think will make money. If you're genuinely interested in something or good at it, that's all you need to start.
To make it more clear, think about one thing you watch on YouTube, read about, or constantly go searching online for all the time. That can be your niche.
Let’s use one of my own interests, for example.
In 2025, I started working in construction. I thought I would hate it, and it was meant to be a temporary thing till something else came up. When I started working, I was getting absolutely killed under that hot California summer sun. They put me on the roof on the very first day and had me digging and doing all the grunt work the rest of the week. I was sweating like a dog, panting all day long.

After working for a couple of weeks, something started to change. I actually started looking forward to going to work. And the crazy part is that I would come home exhausted and still spend hours watching construction videos on YouTube.
I couldn't help myself. I was watching tutorials on whatever I'd been working on that week, trying to learn everything I could to get better faster.
I started watching Matt Bangs Wood on YouTube on how to frame houses.
I started watching Stud Pack on how they build a home from start to finish.
I watched tons of creators talk about all the tools and shit talk on DeWalt and Ryobi tools.
I watched tons of videos about trucks—the best ones for off-road, work, and weekend adventures. There's a lot of shit talk in that space too, and I loved it.
I watched trade-specific videos about iron workers, framers, trenching, foundation, plumbing, electrical, and everything else.
And guess what? They talk a lot of shit there, too.
This whole industry is dominated by men, pumping their chest, bantering, and looking down on everyone else because no one knows a damn thing except for them. Everyone else does it wrong, and only the viewer knows best.
At least, that’s what you read in the comments.
The creators remained neutral, just letting the debates run rampant. It’s really fun reading the comments on this type of content.
After several months of this, I started my own brand, “Hold My Wrench,” which is all about this industry, “Tools, Trucks, and Business”.

And this is the point I'm trying to make. This niche didn't come from researching "What is a profitable niche that I can get into?" It didn't come from Google or AI spitting out a hundred different topics with no clue what I like, know, or do.
I chose this niche simply because I liked the content. I loved this industry. I found interest in these topics, and I wanted to talk more about them. I wanted to share what I know, what I learned, what I do, what I’m doing, and shoot the shit with the rest of the guys.
Finding A Niche You Actually Want To Talk About
Here’s a simple exercise to help you figure out your niche. Think of as many topics that YOU are interested in.
Think of everything you do
What you want to do
What you work in
What topics you dive into all the time.
Brain dump everything that you like and then narrow that list down to one you really love, and maybe something else you really like. If some of these pair up well together, then bonus points for you, because now you have content pillars.
Keep an eye out for the next issue dropping tomorrow because it’s gonna be part two, to help you take this a step further.
Reach out and tell me about your niche. I'm eager to feature the most intriguing ones in the upcoming newsletter. This is a great opportunity for free exposure, but if you prefer to remain anonymous, that's perfectly fine too.
See ya next time.
Amado
